Artist Bio
Mavado, also known as the “Gully Gad,” is a Jamaican dancehall singer from the Cassava Piece community in Kingston. His distinctive, mournful vocal style and storytelling made him a defining voice of mid-2000s dancehall.
With tracks like “Weh Dem a Do” and “Last Night,” he created anthems that captured both the pain and ambition of ghetto life. Mavado’s later collaborations with hip-hop and pop artists expanded his reach and highlighted dancehall’s influence on global urban music.
