Machel Montano is a Trinidadian singer, songwriter, and producer widely credited with helping globalise soca music. Performing since childhood, he evolved from teen prodigy to “Soca King,” known for his high-energy performances, innovative productions, and constant reinvention across decades.
Through solo work and bands like Xtatik, Montano has turned carnival stages into stadium-level experiences, collaborating with artists from reggae, Afrobeats, EDM, and pop. Recent projects and performances, including cross-Atlantic collaborations that highlight the shared roots between the Caribbean and Africa, reinforce his role as a cultural ambassador for Trinidad & Tobago and soca worldwide.
